Comprehensive Report
Initial clinical interview – all evaluations start with an initial clinical interview. This typically includes the patient and their parents/caregivers. Information covered includes the individual's developmental, medical, school, emotional, behavioral, learning, and family histories. Typically, interviews are conducted on the same day as testing, although some insurance plans do require prior authorization for testing. In such instances, the interview will be conducted first in order to obtain relevant history and information of functional abilities in order to justify the need for further assessment.
Testing - the testing portion of the evaluation includes a combination of paper/pencil tasks and computerized measures. While many of the tests are game-like, other tests involve answering questions, solving problems, learning and remembering new information, and completing academic tasks, such as reading, writing, and math problems. Testing typically takes 4 to 6 hours to complete, although this is dependent upon the individual’s age, personal pace, and reason for undergoing formal testing. Breaks are provided as needed throughout the day. A one-hour lunch break is also provided mid-day.
Feedback – a follow-up appointment occurs approximately 2 weeks after the testing. During this appointment, Dr. Moreau-O’Donnell will review the testing results, diagnostic impressions, and resulting treatment recommendations.
Report – A comprehensive report will be written and sent to you via the secure patient portal approximately 2 to 4 weeks after your child’s feedback appointment. The report includes relevant background information, the test results and diagnostic impressions, as well as subsequent treatment recommendations. Your referring provider will also receive a copy of the evaluation report. Families are often encouraged to share a copy of this evaluation report with the individual’s school to help determine eligibility for supports and to guide educational planning.
